Hello chicken keepers,

We have such amazing customers at Backyard Chicken Coops. I’m always blown away by how beautiful our customer’s coops turn out and love seeing how they make their chook coop a happy hen home with their own personal style. Every month I’ll be highlighting a different customer chicken coop to show off how wonderful and talented our customers are. Let’s have a peck at our first Backyard Chicken Coop of the Month!

Coop Customer - At Home With Sheree Louise

Lucky duck Sheree received her Mansion and Run Package as a birthday gift! I love the crisp white paint choice and the pop of colour from the pink petunia pots hung from the chicken run walls. Thanks for sharing your coop pics with us, Sheree! Opal the Orpington has settled in nicely!

We had a little cluck with Sheree to find out about her chicken keeping experience...

BYCC - Why did you decide to keep chickens?
Sheree - I am an animal lover and chickens were first on my wish list as soon as my husband and I moved out onto our farm. Now that we have two young children, there is the added bonus of being able to get them involved in the chicken-care and teach them where the eggs come from that end up on their breakfast plates or in the recipes we make.

BYCC - How many chickens do you have?
Sheree - We currently have six hens, however if one or two more happened to find their way to our farm to join our flock it wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen ;)

BYCC - What breed/s of chickens do you keep?
Sheree - We have 2 x Lavender Orpingtons, 2 x Speckled Sussex, 1 x Gold Laced Wyandotte and 1 White Wyandotte.

BYCC - What do you like the most about your Backyard Chicken Coop?
Sheree - I love our Backyard Chicken Coop! The design is terrific! The hens are able to get up off the ground at night and to lay their eggs, there is plenty of ventilation yet maximum protection, plus the eggs are easy to retrieve. The access doors and sliding trays also make for easy cleaning of the coop.

BYCC - What do you love the most about keeping chickens?
Sheree - Chickens are so calming to watch and I love how each one has their own little personality.

BYCC - What would you say to someone thinking of keeping chickens?
Sheree - Keeping chickens is very rewarding. They make great pets for children and companions for adults alike. The diverse variety of breeds means that there is more than likely one to suit everyone and in all types of situations. Definitely a purchase you won’t regret.

Are you ready to move on up to the Mansion Coop and Run? Have a peck at this versatile coop and run package here. After some more cheeky chook action? Of course you are! Join the flock on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest!
