Chickens have the incredible ability to heal their own damaged hearing - a trait that scientists are trying to unlock in humans.

The birds have the ability to replace the hair cells in their inner ear that have been damaged.  In fact, chickens aren't the only ones who have this incredible ability - all vertebrates other than mammals can do the same.

It is predicted that the cure will take a decade of research and tests, but the Hearing Health Foundation is involving researchers from the top ten institutions in America to speed up the process.

How amazing would it be if they found a cure to hearing issues!
